Known for its beaches and Spanish heritage, the name Arenal is based on the Spanish word for "sandy spot". The Shire of Arenal is a division of the Kingdom of Meridies in the Society for Creative Anachronism. We are located in S. Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, in NW Florida. We meet every Sunday afternoon for fighter practice at Optimist Park on Langley Avenue in Pensacola 2:00pm, and every Thursday, 7:30pm for business meetings and classes at University of West Florida, building 0022 (The Commons), room 272. Every fourth (4th) Sunday, the Shire hosts a "Garb and Grub" potluck at the park where fighter's from nearby groups gather to fight in groups, and the artisans, folk and children come together to eat, talk and have fun!
