In days of yore, a bard was typically a traveling verbal news carrier sent out to relay history and important information to the varying holdings within their lord's lands. Bards were not always singers and/or musicians, but also poets and crafters of words. They would develop long sagas into song or poetry that the populace could learn to pass down information from generation to generation. Often they were used as ambassadors to neighboring lands and kingdoms.
